Training for Judges, Coaches, and Teachers

To encourage the participation of as many students as possible in our tournaments, we open monthly training sessions for judges and annually offer educational institutions the opportunity to train the person they designate to serve as their team’s coach. To bring debate as a tool into the classroom, we also offer a workshop for teachers.

COACH TRAINING

DIAR does not offer coaching services to educational institutions, but at the beginning of each school year, it holds clinics or programs for the basic training of new coaches. On occasion, it hires American teams for these programs.

JUDGE TRAINING

An essential element in every event is the role of the judge. For DIAR’s interschool tournaments, DIAR hires adults to take on this role; for this reason, two sessions are held monthly to train new judges for any of the events, who are then registered on the Tabroom platform.

WORKSHOPS: INTRODUCING DEBATE IN THE CLASSROOM

Debate is a tool for empowering students in their learning, which is why some institutions decide to make it part of their classroom practice. For this purpose, DIAR offers workshops for faculty members to help them implement it effectively.
